Caldera Lakes combines Brittnay Gould's resonant vocals and moody settings with Eva Aguila's abrasive scrapes and skitters for a sound that is unique even in the world of experimental music. Not quite pop, not quite noise, Caldera Lakes are their own kind of evil smile. Using a wide range of non-traditional, acoustic/folk, and digital instruments, Caldera Lakes are interested in expressing a side of sound and nature that is both comforting and terrifying. They love to sit cute melodies atop a wall of fire, or deliver a sorrowful ballad along side the joyful ringing of bells. This is the sound of a gentle breeze and the roar of a beast that is angered by it.
Eva Aguila also performs in Gang Wizard (on Load/Ecstatic Peace) and solo as Kevin Shields (RRR). Britnay Gould performs solo as Married In Berdichev! and has collaborated live with Jandek. They will perform both solo and as Caldera Lakes on their October European tour.
